Very Didion-Babitz esque. Definitely one of the more candid pieces here and something I prefer tenfold. The imagery of golf carts and all-around Saturnalia especially reminded me of more deep South Americana, specifically Peachtree City and Celebration. Great writing! Enjoy the Midwest.
